HOCKEY HELPS KIDS IS A UNIQUE CONTEST WHICH SUPPORTS CHARITIES IN YOUR AREA

How Does Hockey Helps Kids Work?

It’s as easy as three simple steps…

Charity Cup Challenge

The Charity Cup Challenge brings together school children from across Edmonton, local charities, and the Edmonton Oilers to work together to engage fans, drive awareness, and raise money for important causes. Here’s how it works.

Four Edmonton schools are selected and each paired up with a player from the Oilers. Together, each team chooses a charity to enter into the Hockey Helps Kids Charity Cup Challenge. Each team then competes for fan votes to win $25,000 from Hockey Helps Kids.

All four teams – each comprised of the kids, their partnering Oilers player, and selected charity – participate in the contest by driving votes and awareness of their charitable initiative by developing a two-minute video that is posted right here on the Hockey Helps Kids website and promoted at Oilers games.

Fans are encouraged to vote for their favourite team, as well as donate to those causes throughout the one-month Charity Cup Challenge, which will take place in January and February this year. Competition standings are updated right here as fan votes come in.

The team with the most votes for its charity at the end of the fan voting window is named the Charity Cup champion and wins a prize of $25,000 from Hockey Helps Kids for its charity. All three runner-up teams receive a participation award of $10,000 for their charity.
